BCIA Certification for Neurofeedback

We Are Nationally Board Certified to Safely and Effectively Provide Neurotherapy

We are one of only a handful of providers in Utah and Maryland with certification from the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) for neurofeedback training.

Jeff Bright was the third provider in the state of Utah to receive this certification, and we are one of only two clinics in the state offering brain mapping with the gold standard in brain mapping: the 19-point QEEG brain map.“BCIA certifies individuals who meet education and training standards in biofeedback and progressively recertifies those who advance their knowledge through continuing education.”Board certification demonstrates professionalism and adherence to carefully developed standards as a healthcare provider. BCIA procedures follow the Department of Health & Human Services Guidelines. Healthcare professionals who achieve BCIA certification demonstrate commitment to professionalism by completing basic degree and educational requirements, endorsing a rigorous code of professional conduct, learning to apply clinical biofeedback skills during mentorship, and passing a written examination. Our practitioners and technicians are either board certified or working toward board certification in neurofeedback.

BCIA is the only institute recognized worldwide that grants certification to biofeedback practitioners. BCIA certification programs are the only ones recognized by the three major international membership organizations: The Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB), the Biofeedback Foundation of Europe (BFE), and the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR). BCIA was established in 1981 to certify individuals who meet education and training standards in biofeedback and to progressively recertify those who advance their knowledge through continuing education. Currently, more than 1,500 healthcare professionals have achieved this certification in 25 countries.

BCIA’s certification programs are based on scientific evidence published in refereed journals. BCIA rejects narrow, unsubstantiated perspectives and the conflict of interest that exists when certification depends on a specific vendor’s equipment, databases, and protocols. BCIA certification is based on a reading list, Blueprint of Knowledge, and Professional Standards and Ethical Principles that were developed following an extensive job analysis and that are regularly updated by a task force of international authorities in biofeedback.
